Innovative and Safe Tonometer DIATON is featured at the American Academy of Ophthalmology AAO 2021 in New Orleans. Thousands of ophthalmologists from US and all over the world get together at this live and nowadays also remote event. Team DIATON Tonometer is proud to showcase it’s tonometry innovation which assists eye care practitioners to measure and monitor intraocular pressure (IOP) for glaucoma more accurately and in a safer manner as this eye test is done through the upper eyelid, without touching the cornea, thus minimizing the risk of infecting.

The key to Innovation of Diaton Tonometer

The key to Innovation of Diaton Tonometer is that this transpalpebral and scleral tonometry technology addresses many gaps and unanswered questions related to corneal biometrics and corneal biomechanics and its affect on the accuracy of corneal tonometry devices.

Most to all of the current tonometry techniques depend on the normal cornea and possibly adjusting the obtained IOP results with pachymetry, which only adjusts for Central Corneal Thickness (CCT), IOP results still do not address all the possible irregularities of the cornea, which may include curvatures, hysteresis, corneal scarring, corneal edema and other reasons for abnormality that may affect corneal IOP results.

The Diaton tonometry technique is in Non-Corneal. The Diaton tonometry is taking Cornea as a factor out of the equation, where IOP measurement with Diaton is taken over the upper eyelid, at tarsus and sclera (not directly via cornea). Even contact or scleral lenses do not need to be removed to obtain accurate IOP with Diaton tonometer.

Tonometer Diaton is the solution in the following cases when the use of other devices is problematic or impossible:

  • * Safe non-corneal tonometer (no contact with mucous membrane or cornea, Only upper Eyelid)
  • * Mass screening of patients.
  • * IOP control during clinical observation and selection of adequate hypotensive therapy for glaucoma patients.
  • * Serial tonometry for obtaining Diurinal curve.
  • * IOP can be obtained without removing contact lenses.
  • * IOP measuring in immobilized patients – measurement can be done sitting or supine.
  • * IOP measuring in children. Measurement is taken outside of the visual field.
  • * Patients with the following conditions: chronic conjunctivitis, corneal pathology including keratitis, keratotone, corneal dimness, after penetrating keratoplastics, keratoprosthesis, laser refractive correction, high degree of ametropy, astigmatism.
  • * On patients with medicinal allergies (Latex free tonometry)
  • * Lasik / LASEK / PRK (Diaton can be used for IOP measurement right after these surgeries)

Diaton Tonometer is intended for use by Inpatient & Outpatient Clinics such as Hospitals, Emergency Rooms, Nursing & Elderly Homes, General & Specialty Practitioners as well as by Ophthalmology and Optometry practices.

In an interview with Roman Iospa, Chief Executive of DevelopAll said, – “We plan to grow Diaton tonometer sales through our broader expansion internationally and continue to gain greater penetration of the market nationally, mainly due to greater awareness and an invaluable addition of new talent with new contacts and years of experience from market leading companies such as Alcon (ACL), Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Medtronic (MDT), CIBA Vision, Novartis (NVS), Kimberly-Clark (KMB), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Bausch & Lomb, Advanced Medical Optics, Pfizer (PFE) and Allergan (AGN) just to name a few…”

60 million Americans are at RISK for developing Glaucoma. Glaucoma is usually symptomless and vision loss is irreversible. Often people experience loss of peripheral (side) vision first and compensate for this loss by turning their head.

We’re now in talks with other institutions and hospitals (emergency rooms and emergency departments), organizations that are looking to implement Diaton in telemedicine in their day to day routine, to help prevent risk of COVID-19 exposure to the practitioner and patient. Diaton’s infection prevention is considered invaluable by patients and practitioners, in addition to all appreciated clinical advantages. No need for disposable tonometer tips and anesthetic bottles is appreciated for cost reduction and further reduced chance of infection spread.
