Unique DIATON Pen Tonometer aka Glaucoma IOP Eye Test Showcased at The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology ARVO, Seattle, WA

Diaton tonometer aka Glaucoma IOP Eye Test was presented by BiCOM Inc to the members of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology ARVO 2013. Tonometer Diaton Pen allows to measure intraocular pressure (IOP) for Glaucoma through Eyelid and Sclera without contact with the eyeball. No anesthetic drops or contact with cornea is needed to obtain accurate eye pressure results.

Thanks to new technology and innovation, today ophthalmologists and optometrists can measure the pressure within a person’s eyeball, (intraocular pressure), without actually touching the eyeball or injecting a strong puff of air into the eye while it is open. The new instrument used to measure intraocular pressure ,without anxiety and discomfort, is called the Diaton Tonometer http://www.TonometerDiaton.com – by BiCOM, Inc. This ophthalmic instrument enables intraocular pressure to be measured through the upper eyelid; therefore, it never touches the eyeball. This not only provides less discomfort, it has hygiene and cleanliness advantages as well.

The Diaton Tonometer pen never comes into direct contact with the eyeball, and therefore, does not directly touch a person’s tears. It is known that tears can contain bacteria and viruses, including the HIV virus that causes AIDs. It is intended that the device be cleaned and sanitized between patients with an alcohol swab. But because it does not directly touch a patient’s eye (non-corneal tonometry) it does not have to be sterilized after each use.

Major Benefits of Diaton Tonometer:
• No contact with the cornea (only upper eyelid)
• No anesthesia drops
• No risk of infecting or scratching cornea
• No consumables (no need to purchase replacement tips/covers..etc.,)
• No sterilization
• No pachymetry needed (no need to purchase pachymeter)
• No daily calibration needed
• Handheld / Portable + Easy to use

BiCOM Inc is proud to present Diaton tonometer at ARVO, the largest and most respected eye and vision research organization in the world, consisting of over 12,750 researchers from over 80 countries. Some 45% of members reside in over 80 countries outside the U.S. The membership is multidisciplinary and consists of both clinical and basic researchers. About 40% are MDs, 38% are PhDs and 22% are optometrists, osteopaths and veterinarians.

ARVO opens door for Diaton tonometer to be used by researchers and practitioners specializing in many scientific and clinical research areas: Anatomy & Pathology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Clinical & Epidemiologic Research, Cornea, Eye Movements, Strabismus, Amblyopia & Neuro-ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Immunology & amp; Microbiology, Lens, Physiology & Pharmacology, Retina; Retinal Cell Biology, Visual Neuroscience, Visual Psychophysics & Physiological Optics.

Diaton Tonometer provides quick, painless and accurate measurements and makes it possible to diagnose glaucoma in its early stages, allowing users to devise an appropriate care and treatment plan. Diaton is effective in obtaining IOP measurements for many challenging patient populations, including: those with chronic conjunctivitis, erosions, edema and corneal dimness; people who have undergone corneal surgeries; post Boston Keratoprosthesis (Kpro) and immobilized patients and children. Also, patients do not need to remove their contact lenses for glaucoma IOP screening.

Roman Iospa, CEO of BiCOM Inc., said, – "Presenting Diaton tonometer at ARVO allows our unique transpalpebral tonometry technology to be seen by researchers worldwide and potentially be used in the new breakthrough eye care research and hopefully assist in finding the cure….”

Since DIATON is non-contact and handheld pen-like tonometer, it can be used in any setting – rural areas that desperately need glaucoma screening or Inpatient & Outpatient Clinics such as Hospitals, Emergency Rooms, Nursing & Elderly Homes, General, Family, Internal & amp; Specialty Practitioners office as well as Ophthalmic and Optometric practices.

Diaton tonometer is very cost efficient and is priced very competitively at only $2,750 USD and it is delivered complete (no need to purchase additional accessories, tips, covers, probes..etc.,), Two Year Warranty, Calibration Tester/ Training Plate (no need for daily calibration), Carry Case, Battery and Training DVD in 5 different languages + phone based training support.
